Welcome to the LOYL Academy Loctician Mastery Course — a comprehensive, four-level program designed for both aspiring and experienced locticians. Whether you're starting your journey or refining your craft, you'll gain the skills and confidence needed to provide quality, professional loc services.
Level 1: Foundations of Locs
Learn the fundamental techniques and principles of loc care—including proper maintenance, grooming, and styling—while exploring the rich history and cultural significance of locs. This course also covers the anatomy of hair to help you understand how texture, type, and density impact the loc journey. Gain both hands-on experience and essential theoretical knowledge to build a strong foundation for your career as a Loctician.
Level 2: Loc Consultations & Advanced Skills and Techniques
This level focuses on in-depth client consultations and introduces advanced loc techniques, including restorations, repairs, reattachments, and styling. Students will gain the skills to assess client needs, customize services, and confidently address more complex loc care scenarios.
Level 3: Loc Extensions Fundamentals
This course provides in-depth training on the art and science of loc extensions. Learn how to properly install, blend, and secure extensions for various hair types and densities. Topics include handcrafted and pre-made extension methods, color matching, strand count, sizing, and techniques for adding length or volume. You’ll also explore consultation strategies, maintenance guidelines, and how to ensure long-term durability and natural appearance for every client.
Level 4: The Business of Locs
Learn what it takes to build a thriving loc care business from the ground up. This course covers essential strategies for pricing your services, developing a clear service menu, and creating a brand that reflects your values and expertise. Gain insight into client retention, marketing, and setting up sustainable business systems to grow with confidence and purpose in the loc industry.
